In episode 14 of Freedom with NFT’s, our guest Manny and Stephanie of VeeFriends news with us what VeeFriends News is and why you need to dial In.

In this episode of Freedom with NFT’s Manny and Stephanie of Vee Friends News share with us:

  • What Vee Friends New Is

[00:00:00] Lauren Turton: Thank you so much for being on freedom with NFT’s, Stephanie and Manny. It’s an honor to have you with us this afternoon. How are you today?

[00:00:07] Manny: Oh man, we are doing great. It’s an honor to be on the show. Thank you so much for inviting as on. We are super excited.

[00:00:14] Stephanie: Very excited to be here. Thank you. The honor is ours.

[00:00:17] Lauren Turton: Thank you so much. We have so much to dive into in this episode, but before we get into NFTs, the projects you’re involved in and what you’re excited about, I’d love to know a little bit about your background Stephanie, tell me about you.

[00:00:31] Stephanie: We moved here to go to school. I got a bachelor’s degree in Spanish language and education. Of course, I did not go that direction and I am not using that degree. I currently work for a university in town here. And we were city folks from Los Angeles. And then we came here and had the opportunity to purchase a small farm and so we took it.

And so we’ve got three goats. We’ve got about 30 chickens and growing lots of stuff, an apple orchard, and we’ve been really busy with that. And it’s been a complete turnaround for us. I know absolutely way too much about chickens and farm now, so, yeah, we’re just kind of, and then, you know, we discovered this and this has been a whole new chapter for us that we’re just super excited about.

NFT that’s all we talk about like you have dinner and we’re like, oh my gosh, did you see what happened to this NFT and that, this crypto coin. Oh my gosh.

[00:01:18] Manny: We’ve actually limit ourselves infront of them talking about NFT’s.

[00:01:21] Stephanie: Yeah, I think we’re starting to get a loan line to our friends.

[00:01:24] Lauren Turton: I can definitely feel that. I know in my household, I have a limit on what I’m allowed to talk about in regards to NFTs, because same thing, I just want to talk about everything going on in this space and for clarity purposes, when you say here, you’re located in Washington?

[00:01:38] Stephanie: Yes, Spokane Washington.

[00:01:40] Lauren Turton: Oh, wow. What a transformation from going from Los Angeles, California to Spokane Washington on a farm and now deep into the NFT space. Thank you for sharing that with us Stephanie. Manny, a little bit more about you. What’s your background?

[00:01:55] Manny: Yeah, my background is in phlebotomy. So I got up to like a lab manager and man, I want it to dive into NFT.

So like I quit my lab manager and I am full force NFT’s like, I want to learn about smart contracts. I want to learn how to create NFT’s, all started with Gary Vee’s message that he all sent out by 555 be ready, and that kind of just changed my life. And I’ve been diving in ever since. And I do not regret it because I have learned so much.

And I honestly believe that, you know, NFT is going to change every industry that you can think of. And that’s what really, my passion is. That’s what I’m excited about. It’s like a, it’s a future and it’s a shift. It’s a shift in, you know, wow. I’m really excited about that. But yeah so medical backgrounds switched NFT’s that’s where I am at.

[00:02:40] Lauren Turton: And when did you first hear about NFTs? I’d like to put a timeframe on it so that our audience can understand, because most of them are just entering the NFT space, how time exists in this world. So let’s put a date on it. When did you first hear about NFTs?

[00:02:54] Manny: Man, so if we’re talking about NFT’s, we’re talking about digital currency. So Bitcoin is like the first ever that I heard of as far as NFT. So that was like back in high school days on our first, first, first heard about NFT’s. Because NFT is, you know, digital currency and cryptocurrency.

So that’s the first, first I’ve heard of it. But most recently is that messages that Gary sent out and that’s kind of what just like flipped the switch. He said, do your homework. We did our homework. We laugh, like everybody asks when we first started diving in and we saw a picture of our crypto punks selling 4 million.

[00:03:25] Stephanie: I was like you’re keeping me there. It’s really hard for me to wrap it up.

[00:03:27] Manny: It was hard to grasp the concept because it’s not just the JPEG there. Again, like we were talking about community, there’s a whole community surrounded behind these people and they all have the same vision, the same goal. And I feel like that’s what drives a NFT.

[00:03:41] Lauren Turton: I agree a hundred percent. And I can remember when I first heard about NFTs and I saw these crazy numbers with projects. I didn’t understand. I didn’t know how it was possible. I didn’t know why. And it wasn’t until I found out about the utility aspect of it, that I started to understand. Why people were going so crazy and why they were investing money into these different projects.

So I’d love to hear from you a little bit about utility and what you’ve seen out in the space in regards to utility.

[00:04:15] Manny: Definitely that’s actually what the cell in front was. Cause when I first introduced this to my wife, Stephanie.

[00:04:20] Stephanie: I was really apprehensive. I was like, no way, I’m not sinking how much money into this.

And then he goes, but listen, listen, it comes with utility. I go, well then tell me what I get. I don’t just get this JPEG right here. And he goes, well, we get a ticket, a ticket to Veecon and you know, his promise that there’s going to be this other things rolling out and surprises in this and which they have and the community came with it.

And I thought, okay, let’s do it. So I supported it a hundred percent. I said, let’s jump in, let’s do it. I can see, you know, your vision and I’m going to partner with you. And we’ve been learning ever since when you asked how quickly it works in this space, it is so quick. This was back in May, when we jumped in, I had no idea what a mini mask wallet was.

I had to jump in YouTube video after YouTube video. Now this is because Gary kept saying, do your homework before you jumped into this stuff. And that’s some wise words right there. It’s so volatile that you have no idea. And there’s so much lingo to learn. It’s like entering a whole new world of just like abbreviated words and like, you know, I’m bullish, I’m bearish or all these things that, you know, you just had to learn.

It’s been a rollercoaster. Let me tell ya.

[00:05:30] Lauren Turton: So let’s go a little bit into some of the lingo. You just said some phrases that some people might not know what they mean. So what’s this bullish mean?

[00:05:39] Stephanie: So bullish is when I’m like, I feel really strongly about the project and I’m going to hold onto this project for like a long time.

We want to do bearish for me. Cause I’m kind of scared on that.

[00:05:49] Manny: It’s basically borrowed from like, you know, trading and stuff like that. And bearish is obviously like the market’s going to be like very slow. Like it’s going to go down. It’s not going to go up. When you’re bullish on a prospect, we are on Veefriends.

We think it’s going to go to the moon. You know, I honestly wholeheartedly believe that Veefriends quarter will be worth a million dollars. That’s again, a big, huge, bold statement, but I’m very bullish on it. So that’s just how I felt.

[00:06:10] Stephanie: So there it is. He is blullish on it. That’s a great example.

[00:06:13] Lauren Turton: Thank you for sharing that. And I also say something else out there that at first, I didn’t know what it means whack me, whack what?

[00:06:19] Stephanie: Oh I just learned that one this week actually. We are going to make it.

[00:06:24] Manny: Yes.

[00:06:24] Lauren Turton: Yes. We are going to make it. W A G M I, and I’m glad we touched on this because there is so much lingo to learn in this space and it can be intimidating. And it’s kind of that feeling you get from like childhood, when you see a group of people who are like the cool kids and their playing things, and you don’t know what they’re doing.

So you’re like, you know, you’re trying to step onto the playground with them, but you’re not confident. And so.

[00:06:53] Stephanie: Oh, I love this analogy. This is so great.

[00:06:55] Lauren Turton: That’s what it felt like for me, when I first entered, I was like, oh my gosh, all these cool people. And I don’t know what they’re talking about whack me, what. So I know for me, in order to get comfortable with this space was really diving into Twitter.

And just following, following, following reading articles and anything that they were posting, jumping into Twitter spaces and just getting used to conversations that have these words and then Googling, what does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? Okay. Now I get it. Now I feel comfortable with it.

[00:07:27] Stephanie: Yeah, we’re still trying to figure Twitter out.

We’re on it and we’re learning on it. And we’re just going as fast as we can. We actually did the discord before Twitter and discord is kind of what opened our eyes to like all this lingo and like what other NFT projects are going on. And then, you know, we hit the IG page and then that led us towards Twitter.

And then we’re like, okay, well we just have to branch out and try and find as much info as we can.

[00:07:51] Lauren Turton: I know for me, it’s been so interesting to get on Twitter because I have just been on, you know, Instagram and Facebook for so many years now. I didn’t like Twitter before, but NFT Twitter is a totally different experience.

It’s so positive. So supportive. So for anyone who’s listening, who’s interested in getting involved with NFT’s at a further level. You need to get on Twitter. I am really curious to know about Veefriends news. Tell me how did this come about?

[00:08:25] Manny: So it initially started when, you know, Veefriends came out, we kind of got really plugged in and from the get-go we’ve never really been on social media.

Like we were one of those weird people thinking it was weird to put out your information on any social media platform and so.

[00:08:40] Stephanie: Oh my gosh, our minds have so changed on all of this by the way.

[00:08:43] Manny: It really has. Yeah, so from the get-go we’re like, hey, we’re in a new community. This is the beginning. This is a post let’s get involved. And so we kind of just put out a page.

And you can go back on our page and see like our first post. It was ridiculous we didn’t no what we are doing.

[00:08:58] Stephanie: We were like ahh what’d we do.

[00:08:59] Manny: We just try to do it out there and give it a shot because we’ve been following Gary Vee and he’d said post three times a day, just do it three times a day, just do it. And so that’s what we’ve been trying to do. And from there just kind of took off, like, people were really interested to what we have to put out.

And we were so shock by that. We couldn’t believe that.

[00:09:15] Stephanie: And what help is like Gary was sharing our content at a couple of times. And we were like, oh my gosh. We geek out real, really bad.

[00:09:23] Manny: A little bit.

[00:09:23] Stephanie: A little bit. And we were like, is that on his page? Is that our page on his page.. I mean, it was just like, you know, and then from there it just got so much groves and.

[00:09:30] Manny: Yes, groves, you know, Gary says all the time where to listen to your audience and then people would, people would send us out, what they would want to see. And we just rolled with it. Like people gave feedback and we followed it and it just kept growing and growing. And we’re at where we’re at now and super excited about it.

[00:09:45] Stephanie: And very honored for everybody who does like our content, thankful, you know, that they’re like, oh yeah, pushing that like button.

Yeah. It’s small.

[00:09:54] Manny: But it means a lot. We’re blown away by the success of it.

[00:09:58] Lauren Turton: So many takeaways from what you just shared. I love that you talked about audience driven feedback. I have a business coaching company outside of the NFT world, and that’s something that I’m so adamant about with my clients is put content out there and then optimize from there. Once you have client driven feedback.

So I love that you are taking into account what your audience is saying. I’m scrolling on your account now @Veefriends_news. And your first post was on May 6th. And as I look through your content, it’s incredible to see the growth that has taken place in such a short amount of time.

I know that I found your page because Gary Vee had posted about you. And I was like, who are these people? What are they doing? Okay, this is awesome. Let’s get contact. I’d love to have them on the show.

[00:10:48] Stephanie: Thank you for contacting us by the way.

[00:10:50] Lauren Turton: Yeah, absolutely. And there’s just so many, you know, little takeaways from what you said, you took action.

You listen to mentorship and advice in regards to posting at least three times a day, you pivoted out of what it is you’re doing now. And you’re also taking a risk in regards to not posting content before, to now posting content. I know the risk there is like the emotional risk.

[00:11:15] Stephanie: The vulnerable was so much for us. We were like, ah, you know, but you kind of worked through those emotions and figure out what’s the core of it.

And it is to take that action and keep going.

[00:11:25] Lauren Turton: So many takeaways there. Thank you so much for sharing that. I’m curious to know what projects are you working on that you’re excited about.

[00:11:33] Manny: Ofcourse, so next week we’re going to be rolling out our own. So, you know, kind of like an artsy, like what our take is from all these NFT projects and ofcourse.

[00:11:42] Stephanie: And we of had fun with it.

It’s been fun to match it up and then try and guess and say, and you know, and he’s just been having a blast mashing up these different NFTs. Cause there’s quite a bit of big players in the space, you know, recognizable players. And that’s kind of what we’re going for and if the audience can figure out, my gosh, okay.

So this is that, and this is that, and it’s kind of like a game. It was a game for me.

[00:12:03] Manny: Yeah. It was a game, where people had a guess cause I basically just got, again, the big players in the NFT space and kind of just mashed them all together to create one figure. And people had to guess who where they were and it was fun. It was fun to do.

And you know, the inspiration from that was, again, our original founders, which were the cryptopunks that was kind of the storyline that baseline of where, I felt like most projects kind of burnt it from is cryptopunks and everybody built on that. And that’s kind of what I did with the RPCs is again, you know, base is cryptopunks and then everybody kind of came up and shaped themselves.

So that’s kind of the idea behind our project that we’re excited about.

[00:12:38] Lauren Turton: This is so exciting. And I want to hear from you in regards to, you’ve been seeing all of these popular projects out there, these collections, all of this work that’s been happening, what are you most excited about for your own NFT project?

[00:12:54] Manny: For our own NFT project, I, again like everybody else would like to create value for people because that’s what an NFT project is going to succeed. So, whatever that entails, like that’s what we want to do. We want to give back whatever proceeds we get. We want to put it back into the community because that’s what at NFT is about.

It’s about funneling back to the people who supported you and the crazy part about it is, you will succeed and they will succeed. Like it pushes itself by being a good person and giving back. That’s what I’m most excited about is kind of contributing to that, to people who buy into our project. So if you buy your project, we are, again going a hundred percent like we want to invest most of the money back right into you. And by that more people will buying and we’re growing together. And that’s where we’re most excited about.

[00:13:38] Stephanie: I’m excited about learning. Because there’s so much learning and networking because I have met so many great people in this space. It’s just been amazing.

So I learned about NFTs and I know all this, but actually creating NFTs and figuring out how to put it onto the blockchain network is a whole other beast. So that’s what I’m excited about is that learning process there, because this is where the future’s going. And when I first started this, I was like, huh.

Huh? What are you talking about a blockchain? And now I’m actually going to try and learn how to put an actual NFT onto that network. So that we can get that roll in but yeah.

[00:14:13] Lauren Turton: It’s so exciting. The learning so, so exciting and so important. I am curious to know some advice that you would give to those who are just entering the NFT space.

[00:14:26] Manny: Yes. Biggest advice ever. And I’m going to plagiarize with Gary Vee is to do your research a lot goes into it. Please, like FOMO is a real thing where people feel left out and they want to jump in. That’s a recipe for disaster. So again, do your research, look at projects. Look at who’s behind the projects.

[00:14:46] Stephanie: Absolutely, this is a big one.

[00:14:47] Manny: Yes, Gary Vee always says over and over to bet on the jockey, not the horse. You can have the best horse, but he had a terrible jockey. It’s not going to work out. So look who is behind the project and asked around to make sure. Because just in our short time being in this space, we’ve seen some rug pull and another term, is a rug pull is when like a project comes out and everybody hypes it in and they all invest in it.

And then all of a sudden they disappear. That thing that’s unfortunate, but that is a case that happens in this space. Again, just staying up to date or another big thing I would like to suggest is scams.

[00:15:20] Stephanie: Oh my gosh. Please watch out for scams.

[00:15:22] Manny: Yes. We hear it all the time.

[00:15:23] Stephanie: It’s such a new space. It’s like the wild, wild west out here sometimes.

So be careful with your wallets because it’s a public address and be careful who’s sending you links, especially if you’re in the discord, the Twitter also. I think I do want to add something to that list of like, how do you know they get to know which NFTs I would say, take a look at the Twitter and the discord communities that’s created around the NFT.

If you have a group of supportive like-minded people pushing that NFT project and growing it together, that’s going to be like a good factor to decide if you want to jump into that project and support it or not.

[00:15:58] Lauren Turton: Thank you for that. Very, very helpful for those who are just entering the space. So before we wrap this episode up, I’m curious, how do we stay in contact with you?

[00:16:09] Manny: Yeah, so we’re mainly live on IG, so.

[00:16:12] Stephanie: For now, we’re learning Twitter, we promise.

[00:16:15] Manny: Yes, we are learning Twitter and our IG is Veefriends_news. So if you want to get up to date on Veefriends.

[00:16:23] Stephanie: And it’s the same on Twitter Veefriends_news. So if you’re looking for us oh, and on Tiktok, we are also on Tiktok.

[00:16:30] Lauren Turton: Oh that’s awesome. I’ll have to be able to follow on Tiktok too, and we’ll make sure to link everything that you shared in the show notes so that the freedom with NFTs audience can stay in touch with you.

Before we wrap this episode up. Any last words you’d like to share with our audience?

[00:16:46] Stephanie: That’s a good question. Honestly, I’m just super excited about what it’s going to do for the future of like literally every industry. We just can’t really see it right now. And I wish I knew a timeline as to how long it’s going to take, but just the fact that they’re offering utility with a lot of these tokens that are coming out, it’s going to transform the whole thing.

I’m looking forward to it. I’m super excited. And I can’t wait to meet everybody at Veecon and everybody in the space, that’s, you know, doing stuff with this. Because here we are learn it. Doing it.

[00:17:14] Lauren Turton: Exactly. Thank you, Stephanie, anything else you’d like to share, Manny.

[00:17:17] Manny: I actually like to ask you a question as far as, cause I always like to figure out what people’s predictions are when this becomes mainstream.

So mainstream by like you no longer have to explain what an NFT is. We all have mobile wallets based off of your experience. Where do you see us going? As far as being mainstream NFT’s.

[00:17:36] Lauren Turton: So, this is a really great question and I’ll share a little bit of my thought process that went into why I took action into NFT.

So I first heard about NFT’s in June and July, and I believe I heard about them from Tiktok. And from there, I started digging into articles and finding videos about them, Gary Vee, et cetera, et cetera. I had already followed him, but not as intent as I had, once I found out about NFTs. And for me, the catalyst of taking action was when I found out that medical records are already being converted into NFTs.

When I found that out, that shook me to the core. Because I was like medical records, actual medical records. This is already happening. And I was like, if that’s already happening. And then the next catalyst for taking action was when I found out that real estate was happening on the blockchain.

So that right there, I was like, wait a minute, medical records and real estate, it’s already happening. Lauren, you have to get in this now, what are you doing? Figure it out. And from what I’ve seen with my Instagram community, I have about 10,000 followers on Instagram. And my community is predominantly business people because I am a business coach and I’ve been putting content out about NFTs for a few weeks now.

And I’m getting some traction from people who did not know what NFTs were prior to me posting to now they’re entering this space. And so from what I’m seeing in my world, I feel like it will be a solid three to five years before it’s mainstream, mainstream, and we have a year or two of like education where people will start hearing about it. Taking action.

But within three years it’ll be something that everyone knows about. They know what it is. Five years. It’ll be everyone has a wallet.

[00:19:31] Manny: That’s amazing. Definitely aligns with that. We’re predicting within five years, everyone will have a wallet because it just makes sense. It streamlines out. You were talking about your medical records, and it just makes things even faster. That’s what I’m really excited about. It’s going to make so much faster.

[00:19:46] Lauren Turton: Me too and the other thing I think about is back when the internet first came out and how that timeframe was. And then I also think back to when social media first came out because I’m 35, almost 36 years old.

And so I’m part of that age group that didn’t grow up with a cell phone. Didn’t grow up with a computer and I saw the world change before my eyes. I recently spoke at my high school when I was back in Dayton, Ohio, where I’m from, and I was walking through the hallways of my high school. And a flashback happened from when I was 16 years old in a computer class.

And the teacher said, I want you to type in http://www.google.com. This is a search engine where you can ask questions and then she went through how to ask questions. And at that time you had to put them in quotation marks. And I remember that happening. And then I remember when Facebook came out and I didn’t get it for quite some time.

And then I was 26 years old when Instagram came out. So when I look at the timeframe of social media, I’m also thinking about that in regards to NFTs of like how long it took people when the internet first came out, how long it took people with social media. And that’s why I think these next couple of years will be education. People hearing about it.

Action takers, dipping their toes in and saying like I’m going in. And then the rest of the world catching up.

[00:21:18] Manny: I totally agree with that a 100%.

[00:21:19] Stephanie: Yeah, we’re definitely jumping in.

[00:21:21] Lauren Turton: Jumping in and you know, for you all to take action in this space for me to take action in this space for anyone who’s listening to this episode right now, they’re taking action in this space too.

We are at the beginning. We are at the early stages.

[00:21:35] Stephanie: We are so early.

[00:21:36] Lauren Turton: We’re so early and so think about that, in regards to again, when the internet first came out, when social media first came out, this is the same thing. So for our audience. If you’re thinking about getting involved in NFTs, there is room for everyone.

Everyone is welcome. Everyone is needed.

[00:21:53] Stephanie: Yes, absolutely. And you know, for all of us ,that are already here early, like we’re going to be getting to pass on that knowledge to the next group of people coming in and then it just goes on and on and on.

[00:22:04] Lauren Turton: Amazing. Well, thank you so much, Stephanie and Manny for being with us on freedom with NFTs today.
