About Jason Falovitch:
Jason Falovitch also known as JF is the co-founder of the Instagram account NFT. He is also the co-founder of play line, the world’s largest sports lottery and the co-founder of leverage who owns and operates some of the most highly engaged sports focused communities on social media. He is the former manager of 4x heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield.
In this episode of Freedom with NFTs, we talked about how he ventured into the NFT space and the support that you can get joining the NFT community.
[00:00:00] Lauren Turton: Today’s guest with freedom with NFTs has his hands in so many projects and I’m shocked. He had time to drop in with me. Jason Falovitch also known as JF is the co-founder of the Instagram account @NFT. He is also the co-founder of playline, the world’s largest sports lottery and the co-founder of leverage who owns and operates some of the most highly engaged sports focused communities on social media. He has managed Evander Holyfield, needless to say, he’s a very busy person.
Jason, thank you so much for being on today’s episode of freedom with NFTs. How are you doing today?
[00:00:27] Jason Falovitch: Fantastic other than the fact that NFTs are running my life. Fantastic otherwise for sure.
[00:00:31] Lauren Turton: What do you mean by that? What do you mean they’re running your life?
[00:00:33] Jason Falovitch: From the minute I wake up to the minute I go to bed, it’s just NFT, that’s only three words I literally use these days, it feels like. Well, three letters, sorry, not three words, actually is three words, but the acronym being three letters.
[00:00:43] Lauren Turton: Well, that leads me perfectly into my first question. I’m curious to know about your journey into the NFT space.
[00:00:48] Jason Falovitch: Sure. So it goes back to I want to say two years ago, where, when I run a company called playline, which is the largest sports lottery in the world, and we had a social media company as well, which we sold half of that to Mark Cuban and then Mark Cuban and my semi company playline, we created a joint venture where we were acquiring other companies with large social followings, et cetera. And that was, feels like close to two years ago now. I want to say nine months ago, Mark said to me, we’re going all in on NFTs. And I’m like, what is NFTs? I wasn’t like, I didn’t have a crypto background.
I come from, I manage a boxer name, Evander Holyfield is like a managed business career. And I ran with a Mohammad Ali foundations and such. So I never, like, I never really had any entry into crypto until Mark on his set it. I remember someone not like one of Mark’s close guys said to me, the last time Mark says going all in on something, he put a billion dollars into Amazon.
So I figured Mark knows what he’s talking about more than I do. And I got my hands on the Instagram account @NFT and then we have it across social now, but I would say my journey started there. I want to say nine months ago.
[00:01:42] Lauren Turton: Wow. And tell me what the last nine months I’ve looked like for you.
[00:01:45] Jason Falovitch: I couldn’t tell you cause it’s like a blur.
It’s been insane. It really has. This industry moves so fast. It’s so exciting. It’s got a fantastic community. I got to say I’m having so much fun in this space that I really love it.
[00:01:55] Lauren Turton: I love hearing about where you were before and where you’re at now with NFTs and the energy behind what it is that you’re doing.
And for anyone who’s new to the NFT space, what advice would you give to them as they’re getting involved?
[00:02:06] Jason Falovitch: I would say my advice is to start slow. I wouldn’t just jump into NFTs and buy cryptopunks or bored ape. There’s so many amazing projects dropping every single day.
So many times a day, I would jump into clubhouse, get a feel for the community. And check all the Twitter, which is really big on Twitter NFTS, as well as discord. And I would just try to, you know, get your way in the community and I like to support a lot of minorities or know projects that don’t necessarily get the mainstream attention others do, but I would just buy something you love based on the art and start there.
[00:02:30] Lauren Turton: That’s such great advice. Thank you for that. I love the thought of start slow and don’t just go bananas on different things and go crazy about things. Start slow. Take your time, enjoy the community aspect of NFTs. I know when I started in the space, I didn’t realize how strong the community aspect was.
And that now is something that means so much to me, which is interesting because I’ve been a community leader for many years, I’ve had my own community’s, been a part of communities. And what I’m seeing in the NFT space is unmatched when it comes to the community elements. So are there any communities that you’re involved in right now that you’re really passionate about?
[00:02:58] Jason Falovitch: I would say our community @NFT, I would say it’s the largest community NFT and that covers all of the social media, you know, we have a massive clubhouse community of 3.7 million, a huge discord community. We are just so focused on our, I want to say starting with our Instagram community, because I would say some most condensed environment where everything is NFT related and everyone is an NFT, enthusiastic, or a collector or whatnot. So cross it’s just about making our community happy, which is the largest community in the space. That’s where my head at.
[00:03:25] Lauren Turton: And just for reference at the time of this recording NFT, that Instagram handle currently has 445,000 followers.
So that just shows how strong your community is. So congratulations to you for that. That’s really powerful. I know for myself, I look at your page daily to see what I can learn. What’s going on? What are the updates? What can I get involved in? What resonates with me? So I appreciate what it is that you’re doing for this space.
I am curious to know what projects are you excited about right now?
[00:03:48] Jason Falovitch: Okay, good question. So we just did rich the kid, PFP avatar drop, which was fantastic as sold out. It’s a great project, but on the horizon we’re doing Wiz khalifa’s drop on a platform called portion it’s October 15th. That was that’s going to be a really interesting job.
That’s his entry into the NFT space on Sunday, actually we have a really big drop with the real Tarzan. Who’s a massive animal guy, you know, massive on social media. He’s got a great project I’m really excited about and then fall in that. I want to say little baby, we’re going to be entering the NFT game.
We’re bringing a Lil baby into the NFT game. So to kind of get us feet wet, we have a couple of drops with him, but I would say those few are what’s exciting for us, right now.
[00:04:20] Lauren Turton: So let’s get into specifics. What are you most excited about for Rich the Kid drop?
[00:04:23] Jason Falovitch: Well, we already did Rich the Kid dropped, but we sold it out.
I would say that the community is insane. We have over a hundred thousand people in his discord, which is very rare to get that many people committed that early and Rich is his fan. Like he loves the space. He’s Mr. Crypto now, like he appreciates the NFT community. He wants to be part of the community.
And that’s what I love about it. We’re not coming in with a celebrity, grab some money and get out. Like he wants to continue supporting the community doing more drops and just being part of it. At least he wants to release music. You know, he’s going to be very successful in this space, and I’m really excited about his future in the space
[00:04:49] Lauren Turton: I would love for you to share with me some insights on when these various projects come into your world. What is it that you’re looking for in a project? That means it’s going to be longterm, have longterm value. I’d love to hear from you on.
[00:05:00] Jason Falovitch: For sure. I would say the most important thing is the roadmap. Because you have these amazing big names and people are going to buy it, like you want them to know that we are committed beyond just the primary sales, a secondary, you know, the roadmap really is providing such exclusive opportunities for the holders of those NFTs. And we put a lot of emphasis on that and give, you know, with rich the kid who give one away a bunch of Rolex’s and Maserati, you know, I think there’s one where you can fly a private jet with them, or have a concert like private concert with them on a yacht.
And there’s a lot of different, interesting roadmaps for him and a Lil baby and you know, the real Tarzan, and we’re doing this weekend will have giving back to so many amazing foundations around the world that Tarzan’s really, you know, committed to. So it’s not for us. It’s not necessarily about how much money we can make. It’s how do we build great communities that are lasting and enjoying the roadmap. I’m confident that they invested that money in the right person and the right project.
[00:05:46] Lauren Turton: Thank you for sharing that. I think that’s very insightful for those that are just stepping into the NFT space and something else that you touched on is the giving back aspect. Can you share a little bit more about that?
[00:05:54] Jason Falovitch: Absolutely. So in terms of the projects we do, there’s almost always a charitable component.
But I wouldn’t even look to @NFT what we do is all of our stories that are up are free. We don’t offer them. We just find amazing NFTs out there. We try to find the minorities, a lot of women, you never know, people have challenges or economic status issues or whatever the case is. We try to feature them as much as possible and we’ll show 10, 20 of them every single day.
And we’re selling out the projects for them and they don’t even know they’re going to be featured. So it’s almost like, oh my God, I’m here. Like how do I go on out and see I’m feature. A lot of people, there’s amazing artists out there that just don’t have a large social following, that can’t break in to that industry.
It’s not so easy to become relevant. So we try to give them a platform just, you know, to give there are an actual, real chance.
[00:06:33] Lauren Turton: That’s amazing that you do that. I didn’t realize that you did that. That makes me even more into what it is that you’re doing. And I’m curious to know more specifics about the real Tarzan drop.
Tell me what’s going on with that project.
[00:06:43] Jason Falovitch: It’s so cool. It seems built a bunch of warriors that have collections of warriors. I will battle against each other. I don’t want to say too much cause it’s pretty cool, but it is taking the next level in NFT, which is more gamification there’s you can use your NFTs to battle other NFTs part of the collection. There’s, you know, you become part of a warrior team and such. So it’s really cool. I am so excited about that one, because we’re trying to, you know, we’re trying to break the mold a bit and go above and beyond than just like here’s 10,000 or 5,000 penguins, or, you know, here’s 10,000 X or whatever the animal is.
This is like a community, but in the community, they’re going to face off against each other. You know, what I mean and the activities will never stop and Tarzan so passionate about animals and so passionate what he does, like he’s going into jungles and doing videos with the gorillas are like he’s gonna fly to Uganda and do content for his NFT community like he’s so behind this.
[00:07:26] Lauren Turton: That’s amazing to hear something that really stuck out to me when you were sharing all of that was your pure excitement and joy for this space. And it reminds me of when we were kids and when we first got our Tamagotchi or whatever it was out at our timeframe, I love that excitement and enjoy.
[00:07:40] Jason Falovitch: IPads.
[00:07:40] Lauren Turton: Yes, Ipads.
[00:07:41] Jason Falovitch: No pads.
[00:07:42] Lauren Turton: Oh pads, yes pads. I’m 35 so.
[00:07:43] Jason Falovitch: Okay, so you get it. You look way younger I got to tell you, but you get it.
[00:07:46] Lauren Turton: Thank you though, yes pads, when those first came out, like the excitement behind the pads.
[00:07:51] Jason Falovitch: Even baseball cards, I was always collecting as a kid and now it’s like, yeah, you’re collecting again, even in a digital world.
[00:07:56] Lauren Turton: In a digital world and the community aspect.
I know we’ve already touched on that, but it’s just so important for people to understand as going to NFT, community is everything.
[00:08:03] Jason Falovitch: Is everything, you live and die in this game.
[00:08:06] Lauren Turton: Absolutely. So what is a piece of advice that you would give someone who is entering the NFT space?
[00:08:11] Jason Falovitch: As an artist?
[00:08:11] Lauren Turton: Yes, as an artist.
[00:08:12] Jason Falovitch: I would get on the clubhouse and just jump into rooms and talk to people.
It’s just thousands and thousands of other people, just like you every day, trying to enter the space and they’re like-minded people and they’re all trying to achieve the same goal. And doesn’t matter who you are in clubhouse, you can just jump into a conversation, just tell your story, because there’s so many amazing stories out there.
And especially those who don’t have a platform to share a clubhouse, you can go and you can tell your story live in front of all these people.
[00:08:33] Lauren Turton: I am so glad that you shared the storytelling element, because that is crucial in this space. I know from my own experience, when I released my first collection from my project, find the hare that the first person who purchased my NFT was someone who heard the behind the scenes, the story of the project.
And she wanted to invest in the project because I’ve been doing it for over a decade. I’ve been taking photos of myself in a rabbit mask. I’ve been slagging my work at art shows all around and.
[00:08:56] Jason Falovitch: I’m going to feature you in the @NFT after this.
[00:08:58] Lauren Turton: Oh, thank you so much. That’s so kind of you and she bought though, because I shared my story and that is what resonated with first.
[00:09:04] Jason Falovitch: That’s okay you can have a hollow NFT.
[00:09:06] Lauren Turton: Ooh, that is a good takeaway from this episode, you can hollow.
[00:09:10] Jason Falovitch: I’m recording that one because I just made that on the spot though.
[00:09:11] Lauren Turton: That’s yours and that is perfect. So I’m glad you made that up on the spot because that’s true. I want everyone to know who’s listening that you have a story to tell, and you’re doing your artwork for a reason. You’ve entered the space for.
[00:09:22] Jason Falovitch: Absolutely, so share your story. I’ve heard when I was on club, the stories I heard were blowing my mind. A lot of it’s based on people’s mental health and they express themselves. You know, I find that it’s just remarkable once you dig a little deeper, because there’s some, there’s always a story behind the art.
[00:09:34] Lauren Turton: Always a story behind the art. I’m so glad that we touched on storytelling. Well, before we started the episode, we talked about timeframe of how long we would be going for. And I’ll be honest I believe that I’ve received everything I need from you today in this episode, we shared so much value. You’ve touched on four amazing projects and now we have a wonderful resource to go to when we need to find out the happenings in the NFT space, your page @NFT, before we wrap this episode up, is there any final words that you’d like to share with the freedom with NFTs audience?
[00:09:59] Jason Falovitch: You know what I would say I’ve done a lot of business. I’ve worked with tons of celebrities and athletes.
There’s nothing more exciting for me in the world right now, other than my family, is the future of this industry, it feels like for some people maybe they’re late. They feel like they could be late entering the game. And I’m going to quote Mark on this one, who’s my co-founder of leverage game media, which we own a NFT Mark says is the beginning of the first and there’s no time not to get in.
You’re never late jumping. Shoot me a DM, if you want @JF on Instagram, and I’m happy to support if I can and feature you and not to be scared, just go and put yourself out there anyone can be an amazing artist now. You just got to get your way in there and just hustle and tell your story.
Get on clubhouses, be in discord, get part of that community because I know so many guys like I’ll give you one example before it ends is if you know, mad dog Jones, one of the most amazing and NFT artist in the world. A year, he was struggling to sell one piece for years as an artist. Now his stuff goes for a million dollars minimum and he did not even see it coming.
[00:10:51] Lauren Turton: I’m so glad that you shared that with us, especially for an artist like myself, who I shared with you earlier. I’ve been slaying in my work at art shows and galleries for over a decade. And when I hear stories like this, it confirms even more for me, the opportunities that are in this space, but to circle back with what you said, you have to put yourself out there.
You have to tell your story.
[00:11:07] Jason Falovitch: That’s the name of the game.
[00:11:08] Lauren Turton: Well, thank you so much for being on freedom with NFTs and for those who are listening, new episodes drop every Wednesday at 5:00 AM Eastern standard time, but leading up to NFT NYC, which is the first week of November, we will be dropping more episodes.

[00:11:29] Jason Falovitch: There’s one more, sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt you, NFT con keep that on the back of your mind, cause that’s NFT con is coming.
[00:11:34] Lauren Turton: Tell us more..
[00:11:35] Jason Falovitch: That’s it. That’s all I can say NFT con is coming.
[00:11:38] Lauren Turton: Amazing. Do you have dates set for that yet?
[00:11:40] Jason Falovitch: That’s all I’m allowed to share at this moment..
[00:11:41] Lauren Turton: Okay.
[00:11:41] Jason Falovitch: But you heard it here first.
[00:11:43] Lauren Turton: We heard it here first. All right, that’s on everyone’s radar. Again, thank you so much for being here.
