How to Get Started in NFTs
What stage are you in right now, in terms of learning about NFTs?
There might not really be a proper step-by-step on how to get started in NFTs but it’s good to at least have some guidelines to follow, right?
In this article, I’m going to share with you some tips and steps on how I got started in my own NFT journey.
Doing the research
I couldn’t stress this enough. This is the foundation of every NFT journey.
If you don’t immerse yourself in researching and getting to know what NFTs are and what exactly you’re going to do with them, you will never be able to get to the next level.
So, it’s important to know everything you need to know about this world, this space, before getting yourself into it.
Then the quote, “You have to know what you’re getting into” will not be much of a cliche anymore.
This is the first thing I did as I started my NFT journey. I have to read every article, research every terminology and watch several explainer videos about NFTs.
It took me months before I really did anything in the space. The first months were really dedicated to research.
Defining Your Niche
Much like in your real-world profession, you have to define your niche. What are the topics, subjects, or projects you’re seeing yourself getting into and involved in both in the short term and in the long term?
This is a very important step because it will be like your guide as you thread through the NFT space and the metaverse.
Remember, the metaverse is such a huge space. It’s becoming an extension of the real world, and if you don’t start to narrow down your path, it is so easy to get lost. You wouldn’t want to waste your time exploring the space without any direction.
So, from the beginning, define your direction. Clarify the path you want to take.
When you do this, it will be much easier to find the right people to help you through that path. And you are less likely to fall into scams, which are becoming rampant in the NFT space.
Find NFT Projects you want to model upon
If you are someone who is looking into launching your own NFT projects, then this is the next step I encourage you to take.
As Mark Twain said, “There is no such thing as an original idea”. Honestly, it comes really rarely. But innovation is ever-present and that is important in an ever-changing world.
As you get ideas on how to launch the NFT project you’ve been thinking about, look into NFT projects in similar subjects and niches.
You don’t necessarily have to copy them, but you can get ideas on how they organized and created the projects, what factors resonate and will work for you and how they market them to their audience.
Yes, there is no such thing as originality but there is authenticity. You can get ideas from other people and maybe have NFT projects similar to other people in the NFT space, but you are you, and that will still reflect in your NFT project.
So, you don’t have to hesitate about looking and analyzing other NFT projects similar to yours. It’s part of research and even big businesses do that from time to time.
Learn the Basics of NFTs
What are the basics of NFTs?
Well, to begin with, you have to know how to create an Ethereum wallet, which is the mode of payment you will use to buy NFTs and do any transactions in the NFT space.
Then, you will have to learn how to buy NFTs in the different marketplaces and the gas fees you have to pay. A lot of people want to purchase NFTs but get discouraged with the amount of gas fees they have to pay on checkout, so they don’t do it anymore.
Take time to learn these terminologies, technical aspects of the NFTs and workarounds in the NFT space, so that you can do transactions more smoothly in the metaverse.

Launch or Buy your First NFT
Whether you want to buy your first NFT art or you want to launch your own project, you should not take too much time before doing anything.
Remember, we are still in the early stages and the space is still constantly changing but not for long. It’s getting much more attention from people and more people are getting sucked into it. So, the time to take action is now.
You don’t have to jump into it right away because of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) but you don’t have to hesitate too much either or you will miss out on a chance to create something significant early on in the development of NFTs.
Once you’ve learned about the basics and are confident enough about your knowledge of NFTs, you can now start your own project. You can continue learning more as you go, but start putting together your project, or start investing in NFTs now.
